Let's Start with the basics...
Champion of Faith (COF) is a 7-step training process with a two-fold approach to fulfilling the
Great Commission of making and teaching new disciples. COF focuses on both discipleship and leadership training. While the Champion of Faith process is not the vehicle that we use to win souls, it is what we do at Abundant Life Church (ALC) to nurture, build up and train those who have been won to Christ.
7 Steps of COF
Step 1
The Birth of a Champion
Length: 4 weeks
Cost: $5
Step 1 focuses on learning the first steps of what it means to follow Christ. The student will learn about the significance of the salvation experience, the importance of reading God's word, having victory over the enemy, and how to walk in faith. This step prepares the student to attend the Encounter Retreat.
Step 2
An Encounter with the Champion
Length: 2 Days
Cost: $35
Starts: Friday at 6:30pm Ends: Saturday at 4:00pm
The Encounter Retreat is a time away from distractions and interruptions where we can encounter God in a personal and tangible way.
Step 3
Strengthening the Steps of a Champion
Length: 6 weeks
Cost: $5
In Step 3 the student will learn what it means to walk in freedom sin and the world. They learn to find freedom in forgiveness and freedom from the hurts they suffered. It begins to prepare the student to live and share their faith in the day-to-day context of their lives.
Step 4
Renewing the Mind of the Champion
Length: 10 weeks
Cost: $10
Step 4 is divided in two 1 hour classes. The first hour focuses on the instructions of the principles of our faith through the lessons that teach biblical and systematic truths found in Scripture. The second hour is focused on God's plan for the family and how that plan relates to every member of the family.
Step 5
Sharpening the Hands of a Champion
Length: 10 weeks
Cost: $10
Step 5 focuses on training the student to begin serving in the Body of Christ at ALC. It is divided into two 1-hour classes. Hour 1 focuses on God's vision and mission for ALC. Hour 2 focuses on the ministry of the Holy Spirit the student is encouraged to discover their own call and gifts.
Step 6
Discovering the Heart of a Champion
Length: 10 weeks
Cost: $10
Step 6 is divided into two 1 hour classes. Hour 1 focuses on Leadership and mentoring training. Students are required to enter into a mentoring relationship, usually with their life group leader, and learn through experience how to mentor others. The second hour has a special focus on Evangelism. The students are prepared to evangelize the lost, to reach their community, and taught to disciple new Christians.
Step 7
The Commissioning of a Champion
Length: 2 days
Cost: $35
Starts: Friday at 6:30pm Ends: Saturday at 4:00pm
Step 7, is a two day weekend retreat where the newly commissioned leader is encouraged to begin their service to the Lord in the area of ministry they have called to.
